Consistency, a word we hear a lot. Not just in the fitness community, but in all areas of life. Anything you want to be successful at and be great at requires you to be consistently going after it. We've learned time and time again that consistency wins because it never stops working, even when things get tough.
Hard work is always important, but it can only get you so far if you aren't consistent. If you work hard up until the point where the process becomes hard, then you will not get to where you want to be. Everyone used to talk about how "Hard work beats talent when talent stops working hard", and everyone forgot about consistency. Consistency allows the hard work to even matter and to amount to anything.
Consistency is what separates the good from the great, in every area of life. Consistency matters the most on the days when you don't want to get up, when you don't want to work, when you don't want to go to the gym , or when you don't want to chase after your dream. There will be days where the process will not be fun, and this is where consistency becomes its hardest to keep on track. Those are the days where steps can be taken forward or backward. It's all up to you.
That's what you should be chasing after, the one step forward. Even the half step forward is a success. That tells us we are still moving forward. Focusing on the end goal all the time is what disheartens most, because you can't get there in one step, two steps, or maybe even one thousand steps. Focusing on each step and striving for each step, and being consistent in doing this, allows for the process to flourish and for success to be within reach.
Go out there today and chase after what you've always wanted to chase. Whether thats in your career, your relationships, or at the gym. Go for it, and get after it with relentless consistency. Have a great weekend everybody, and happy training!
