Why light clean and jerks in the metcon?

A lot of people like to know why program lighter than normal barbell movements in some metcons. The reason why, I like to see my athletes touch and go the whole time at a maintained high intensity. Many people choose to forgo touch and go on barbell movements because they can avoid the eccentric portion of the lift by going to singles. Though I am a fan of this, the eccentric part of the barbell lifts can be very beneficial to your training and by helping you attain a whole new intensity.
