If you've seen pictures like this on Instagram, 9 times of out 10 those are Patrick Midgley's ridiculous numbers:
He's the king of the C2. He also happens to be an insanely fit individual. Patrick moved to Lubbock in the summer of 2016 and went all-in on GFB programming. He's been one of my most coachable athletes because he fully embraces everything I teach. The concepts of compounding fitness and the circle of influence, he grasps and has the self-awareness to apply them. He has the character that any coach would be lucky to have in an athlete.
All of that showed up in the Open this year!
Here are his CrossFit Games Open (Regional) finishes over the years:
Frustrated with his lackluster improvement after a year of training, he sought out competitive programming and a coach...
Patrick moved up 407 Regional spots in ONE YEAR. He went from getting 40 handstand push-ups on the first round of 16.4 (good enough for 530th in the Region) to getting 41 deadlifts, unbroken by the way, on the second round of 17.4 (63rd in the Region).
This didn't come easily. Patrick trained on days he didn't want to. He squatted when his legs hurt. He did muscle-ups when his hands were torn. And he snatched when he was struggling to get routine weight.
If you want it, no one will give it to you. You have to go get it, just like Patrick has. I'm excited to see what another year under his belt does for him.
I'm proud of you brother!
