I've worked with Kasey for a very long time, so it's a lot of fun for me to write this post. I remember taking her through her "Elements" class over 5 years ago. I remember her first muscle-up. I remember the first time she snatched 100 lbs. And I've had the opportunity to watch her and her husband Justin raise their sweet baby Isla Faye. It's been a fun journey.
The picture that caused an eruption in the CrossFit world a couple of years ago. (The baby is fine, by the way.)
Last year Kasey had a major breakthrough with her nutrition (macroholicsnutrition.com). After gaining some momentum, she got serious with her programming as well. That's when things really took off. Kasey has a toddler, and she and Justin both work full time, so her schedule is tight already. Here's a quick rundown of a normal day for Kasey:
4:45 am - Get to the gym to do the first piece or two of that day's programming before work.
Noon - Sneak away during her lunch break to get the next workout in.
4:30 pm - Knock out a quick lift before picking up Isla from daycare.
5:15 pm - Sit Isla in a high chair and finish up the programming for the day while her daughter watches and cheers.
Talk about no excuses! When people tell me how they don't have time or energy to train, I think of Kasey.
She started CrossFit in 2012 without any notable strengths. She worked and became a top 300 athlete when the "pool" was smaller in 2014. Now, in 2017, she's a top 100 athlete (90th in South Central) and the top female at CrossFit Lubbock, a super fit gym (14th fittest in the Region).
This has not been a short or an easy process. No great accomplishments ever are. However, Kasey is not done. I am excited to see where another year of her drive and consistency lands her.
Keep inspiring Kasey!
